Melvin D. Honowitz’s civil litigation practice includes the prosecution and defense of complex litigation, business fraud, construction defects, employment matters, landlord-tenant disputes, trade secrets and intellectual property claims, contract and real estate disputes, corporate and partnership matters, derivative claims, business dissolution, malpractice, and selective personal injury cases. His transactional practice includes the purchase and sale of both commercial and residential real estate, commercial leasing, as well as business formation, transactions and dissolutions. Mr. Honowitz has over 30 years’ experience in these areas.
A significant portion of Mr. Honowitz’s practice focuses on advising multinational technology-based clients on issues relating to electronic commerce issues, merchant banking relationships and computer and technology law, including telecommunications, internet and privacy law matters.
Mr. Honowitz has extensive jury, court trial and commercial arbitration and mediation experience, and testifies as an expert in matters regarding the standard of care for attorneys, as well as legal ethics. He is an arbitrator for the San Francisco Superior Court and also is a private mediator.
Prior to joining Sideman & Bancroft LLP, Mr. Honowitz managed his own firm for 30 years. His clients include domestic corporations, developers, small firms, individuals, business principals and professionals.
Mr. Honowitz is a member of the American Bar Association, San Francisco Lawyers’ Club and Consumer Attorneys of California.
