Sideman & Bancroft LLP is proud to announce that Jeffrey Hallam has been named Managing Partner, effective January 1, 2014. Mr. Hallam has been with the firm for 16 years and currently co-heads Sideman’s Business Crimes and Government Investigations Group. He succeeds Ellen Kahn, who had led the firm since 2008.

“Jeff has been a big part of Sideman’s growth over the past several years, which have seen great changes, including a major office move and expansion of our team of talented attorneys,” said former Managing Partner Ellen Kahn. “His leadership during that period and his superior work heading up the Business Crimes Group with Rick Nelson leave no doubt that he will excel in his new role and ensure the firm’s continued evolution and success.”

Specializing in the representation of corporate clients in connection with their brand protection, anti-counterfeiting and anti-fraud enforcement efforts, Mr. Hallam focuses on crimes involving the trafficking of counterfeit goods, major frauds (including sales and diversion fraud and warranty fraud), employee frauds and thefts, and computer intrusions. He also handles business crimes defense cases, including antitrust, environmental, FDA, export, money laundering, and mail and wire fraud matters, and criminal matters with significant asset forfeiture implications.

“This is a really exciting time in the history of the firm,” said Mr. Hallam. “Ellen oversaw some very positive changes and I’m looking forward to the challenge of continuing her great work.”

Mr. Hallam will maintain his practice and leadership position in the Business Crimes and Government Investigations Group. In his new position, he will oversee the day-to-day operations and long-term planning at the 36-attorney firm.

Mr. Hallam is a member of the American Bar Association (ABA) White Collar Crime Section and the Bar Association of San Francisco, and has presented on a number of ABA panels involving the criminal enforcement of intellectual property rights and major frauds. He was also on the International Trademark Association’s North American Anti-Counterfeiting Committee in 2012 and 2013, and has been named a Northern California Super Lawyer® every year since 2006.
