Kelly McCarthy joins panel discussion for INTA webcast, “The XX Factor: Women and Trademark Law”

According to the National Association for Law Placement (NALP) Foundation for Law Career Research and Education, two thirds of female associates leave a new law firm job within five years. American Bar Association statistics demonstrate that women represent only 20 percent of partners and an even more meager 17 percent of equity partners in law firms, and 2015 statistics suggest that representation of women lawyers has declined at the partner level for national firms.

Unsurprisingly, IP firms with higher numbers of women at the top typically boast a culture where flexible work policies are in place and can be used without fear of backlash. Firms have begun offering female attorneys dedicated sponsorship and education programs, as well as supporting various women’s networks and diversity committees.

This 60-minute webinar highlights “rock star” women in trademark law, showcasing how they overcame challenges to achieve career accomplishments. Panelists will discuss suggestions on how to better retain and advance women IP lawyers in law firms. In addition, panelists will touch on the topic of the large number of women in trademark law, which has been thought of traditionally as “pink collar law.”

Webcast is December 9th, 2015. An archived version will be available about a week after the webcast.  If you do not register for the live webcast, you will be able to purchase the archived version.
