Sideman & Bancroft LLP Adds Family Law Partner

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – August 1, 2011 – Sideman & Bancroft LLP announced today that Monica Mazzei has joined the firm as a partner in the Family Law practice group. Ms. Mazzei was previously an associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius in San Francisco.

“Monica’s wide range of experience practicing family law makes her an invaluable new member of our firm and group,” said Ellen Kahn, the firm’s Managing Partner. “She has the skill set and know-how to make our established family law practice even more dynamic and effective for our clients.”

Ms. Mazzei focuses her practice exclusively on family law and specializes in dissolution actions involving complicated valuation and financial matters, as well as complex community property and support issues. In addition to counseling clients in relation to custody and paternity matters, she negotiates and drafts pre-marital and post-marital agreements and represents clients through the litigation process and mediation. Ms. Mazzei’s practice is based in the Bay Area with a concentration in San Francisco and the Silicon Valley.

In addition to her practice, Ms. Mazzei volunteers extensive amounts of free time to aid San Francisco’s legal community. She works as a volunteer family court mediator in the San Francisco Superior Court, acts as a mentor family law attorney to the San Francisco Bar Association’s Volunteer Legal Services Program and also maintains her own family law pro bono practice.

Ms. Mazzei served as co-chair of the San Francisco Bar Association, Barristers Family Law Section from 2009-2010. She received the Outstanding Award for Public Service from the San Francisco Bar Association in 2008. Ms. Mazzei was selected as a Northern California Super Lawyers 2011 Rising Star in Family Law.

Prior to joining Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, Ms. Mazzei practiced at Freid and Goldsman in Los Angeles. She received a J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law in 2002, and a B.A., Magna Cum Laude, from Holy Names University in 1999.
