Biography

Marissa has extensive brand protection experience as one of the founding members of Amazon’s Counterfeit Crimes Unit, a team designed to pursue infringers and their networks worldwide, as well as the Global Head of Litigation for the Motion Picture Association. She is also a former federal prosecutor from the Southern District of New York and a former Fulbright Scholar.

As Deputy Director of Amazon’s Counterfeit Crimes Unit, Marissa was the single-threaded owner of all litigation, usually filed jointly with brand partners, including over 100 active civil cases across the US, EMEA, and APAC. Marissa also oversaw global criminal referrals against thousands of infringers, including direct support of resulting criminal raids, charges, and trials.

As the Global Head of Litigation for the Motion Picture Association, Marissa led an international litigation team across the Americas, EMEA, and APAC, conducting enforcement actions, both civil and criminal, against copyright infringers, their global networks, and related intermediaries.

Marissa is a former Assistant United States Attorney from the Southern District of New York where she worked on cases related to organized criminal networks and complex financial frauds.

As a Fulbright Scholar, Marissa taught criminal law in Eastern Europe and coordinated with attorneys at the U.S. Embassy on prosecutorial and law enforcement training sessions. Marissa also taught Criminal Law and Legal Writing at Villanova Law School. Marissa began her legal career as litigation counsel at O’Melveny & Myers in New York.
