Sideman & Bancroft LLP is pleased to announce that four of the firm’s attorneys have been selected by Super Lawyers Magazine as 2014 Rising Stars. Darlene A. Bagley was selected to the 2014 Colorado Rising Stars list, and Simone M. Katz-O’Neill, Monica C. Mazzei and Cindy E. Tate to the 2014 Northern California Rising Stars list. Each year, less than two and a half percent of lawyers receive the Rising Star designation.

Ms. Bagley focuses her practice on the criminal defense of individuals in California and Colorado State and Federal Courts. She has served as trial counsel in over 40 trials, representing individuals who have been accused of various criminal offenses, including complex drug conspiracies, child abuse, mortgage fraud, non-capital murder, and domestic violence offenses. This marks the third consecutive year that Ms. Bagley has been selected by Super Lawyers to the Colorado Rising Star list.

Ms. Katz-O’Neill, who also received the Rising Star designation in 2013, focuses her practice primarily on domestic and international trademark prosecution and counseling, including trademark availability, clearance, and the prosecution of U.S. trademark applications before the United States Patent & Trademark Office; the enforcement of trademark rights and the negotiation of trademark disputes and settlements; and copyright counseling, registration and enforcement.

Ms. Mazzei focuses her practice exclusively on family law, and specializes in dissolution actions involving complicated valuation and financial matters and complex community property and support issues. She counsels clients regarding custody and paternity matters and negotiates and drafts premarital and postmarital agreements, and represents clients through the litigation process and mediation. Ms. Mazzei has been named to the Northern California Rising Stars list each year since 2011.

Ms. Tate, who also received the Rising Star designation in 2013, concentrates her practice on estate planning, including counseling non-traditional and blended families. She works with clients on tailoring their specific estate plan to minimize estate and gift tax liability and to accomplish their goals. Ms. Tate also counsels clients with regard to business succession planning.

Ms. Bagley, Ms. Katz-O’Neill, Ms. Mazzei and Ms. Tate were selected for this honor by peer nominations, a blue-ribbon panel review and independent research of candidates. To be eligible for inclusion in Rising Stars, a candidate must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for 10 years or less.

In addition to the four Rising Stars, William L. Taylor was selected to the 2014 Colorado Super Lawyers, and 13 of the firm’s attorneys were designated as 2014 Northern California Super Lawyers:
