Kendra Ervin represents clients in connection with brand and content protection issues as well as IP litigation and enforcement efforts. Kendra is a former federal prosecutor and IP enforcement executive who brings a rare combination of prosecutorial judgment, technical fluency, and domestic and international law enforcement relationships to brand protection, copyright, and trade secret matters. Having spent over two decades working across the Department of Justice, in-house enforcement leadership, and private practice, Kendra approaches every engagement with a clear view of how civil and criminal enforcement tools work together, and when each should be used.
Before joining Sideman & Bancroft, Kendra served as Vice President and Head of Global Litigation and Enforcement at IP House, a global IP investigation and enforcement company. At IP House, she led IP litigation and enforcement strategies for a diverse client base spanning pharmaceuticals, technology, media and entertainment, sports, and consumer goods, and advised on anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy initiatives on a global scale.
Before that, Kendra spent fourteen years at the U.S. Department of Justice, where she served as Deputy Chief for IP in the Computer Crime & Intellectual Property Section (CCIPS). At CCIPS, she prosecuted large-scale, multi-jurisdictional IP crimes; participated in domestic and international IP enforcement training and outreach; and helped shape legislative and policy initiatives addressing all facets of IP crime. She obtained a trade secret theft conviction for the theft of proprietary chemical manufacturing technology, later upheld on appeal to the Fifth Circuit, and a landmark conviction for trafficking in counterfeit microelectronics destined for U.S. Navy nuclear submarines.
Earlier in her career, Kendra specialized in patent litigation at Williams & Connolly and clerked for the Honorable Alvin A. Schall on the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
