Sideman & Bancroft Grows San Francisco Office with Addition of Four Attorneys

Sideman & Bancroft LLP is pleased to announce the addition of four new attorneys: Daniel Redman, Lyndsey Heaton, Simon Mayali and Natalie Bize. With the new hires, the firm expands its Family Wealth Planning, Brand Integrity and Innovation, Intellectual Property, Litigation and Appeals, Estate Planning and Tax practices.

Daniel R. Redman joins Sideman & Bancroft’s Family Wealth Planning group as a partner. His practice focuses on estate planning, estate and trust administration, and taxation. Mr. Redman was previously a counsel at Shartsis Friese LLP. In 2012, he was appointed by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors to the City’s LGBT Aging Policy Task Force, where he led the effort to draft and pass the “LGBT Long-Term Care Residents’ Bill of Rights.” It is a first-in-the-nation ordinance to protect LGBT seniors in care facilities and became law in 2015. Mr. Redman was recognized as one of the “Best LGBT Lawyers Under 40” by the National LGBT Bar Association in 2016 and named a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation in 2017.

Lyndsey C. Heaton joins the firm’s Brand Integrity and Innovation, Intellectual Property, and Litigation and Appeals groups as a partner. Her practice focuses on high stakes intellectual property litigation involving, trade secrets, trademarks, unfair competition, copyrights, patents, counterfeiting, and intellectual property theft. She also is experienced in prosecuting and defending complex, commercial litigation. Prior to joining Sideman & Bancroft, Ms. Heaton was an associate at Hosie Rice LLP and Morgan Lewis and Bockius LLP in San Francisco, where she concentrated on complex commercial and intellectual property litigation.

Simon Mayali joins Sideman & Bancroft’s Estate Planning and Tax groups as an associate. With a strong passion for helping clients plan for the future and navigate the intricacies of estate administration, he advises clients on estate planning, trust administration, estate and gift taxation, and probate. He also obtained his LL.M in taxation with a focus on estate planning to counsel clients on complex estate and gift tax issues. Mr. Mayali was an associate in the International Tax department at PricewaterhouseCoopers and an associate for a boutique trusts and estate firm in San Francisco.

Natalie A. Bize joins the firm’s Brand Integrity and Innovation, and Intellectual Property groups. Ms. Bize returns to Sideman & Bancroft after having joined the firm as an intern in the Intellectual Property group in 2016. As a law student, she served as a senior editor for the Hastings Business Law Journal. Additionally, she received CALI and Witkin Awards for Excellence in Legal Research and Writing. Ms. Bize earned her J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2018, and is awaiting results of the July 2018 California bar examination.
