Sideman & Bancroft is sad to announce the passing of our partner and friend, Guy Chambers. Guy joined Sideman in 2014 and soon became a valued member of the firm’s Brand Integrity and Innovation Group and the chair of the firm’s patent practice. Guy was a seasoned patent litigator known for strategic thinking and a determined representation of his clients.
When remembering Guy as a colleague, one Sideman associate wrote: “When I joined the firm completely green post-bar, Guy took it upon himself to mentor me in how to be a real attorney even while preparing for trial. I still don’t understand how someone could be so patient with a first year associate all while preparing for high stakes patent trial. He never once lost his cool and always remained level headed no matter how stressful the situation was.”
Around the firm, Guy could be counted on for unconventional thinking and fascinating conversations. An avid outdoorsman, he was always ready with a story of his latest travels and adventures. Jeff Hallam, the firm’s managing partner reflects, “Guy was a real stand-out as a patent lawyer, winning victory after victory for his clients, and protecting the blood, sweat and tears that had generated their inventions. Guy was also a valued friend and colleague, bringing unique perspectives to the business of law, and a friendly ear when discussing personal and professional issues. We will miss him.”
Guy will indeed be missed greatly by his colleagues and we wish his family and friends strength in this difficult time.
