Sideman & Bancroft is pleased to announce that it is among the top law firms for women, according to Law360’s most recent annual Glass Ceiling Report. Sideman & Bancroft ranked higher than nearly 90 percent of all other firms in its size category.

Among all law firms surveyed—more than 270 firms of all sizes—Sideman & Bancroft has the fourth-highest percentage of female equity partners at 53.8%. That is more than double the national average of 23.3%, earning the firm recognition for the third consecutive year on the publication’s “Ceiling Smashers” list, which ranks the 40 firms with the highest representation of women in their equity partnerships.

“With women holding equity partnerships growing in importance as a key benchmark in a firm’s diversity, we are proud of our ranking, which stems from our commitment to recruiting, retaining and promoting diverse lawyers,” said Kelly McCarthy, a partner who began at the firm as an associate and who now sits on the firm’s executive committee. “We know that a team with diverse perspectives is crucial to delivering creative legal solutions to our clients, and we are dedicated to fostering an open and inclusive environment to ensure that high level of service.”

The firm also performed strongly against other industry averages for women associates (57.1% versus the 48.5% average), nonequity partners (50% versus the 33% average) and lawyers at all levels (61% versus the 37.7% average). In a figure that includes Sideman & Bancroft, only 7.4% of firms across all size categories met or bettered the industry averages.

“The ongoing pandemic has disproportionately impacted women lawyers more than their male counterparts, and I’m proud that the firm has maintained meaningful representation for women at all levels despite these challenges,” said Lyndsey Heaton, chair of the firm’s Diversity Committee. “We know there is still work to be done, and we are committed to continuing to ensure that our firm is a destination for top talent who reflect the diversity of our clients and the global marketplace.”

Sideman & Bancroft is committed to building a culture of inclusion and promotes equal opportunity for all by building a welcoming workplace that celebrate diversity among attorneys and staff regardless of gender, race, ethnic background, sexual orientation, religion, age, or disability status. The firm is certified as a woman-owned business by the Suppliers Clearinghouse and is an active member of the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF).
