Majority Woman-Owned Firm Largest in the Western United States

SAN FRANCISCO, January 21, 2010 — Sideman & Bancroft LLP, a member of the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms, now also is certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE). The 28-attorney firm, comprised of men and women partners, is the largest women-owned law firm in the western United States. WBENC is the nation’s leading advocate of women-owned businesses as suppliers to America’s corporations.

“We are honored to be certified by WBENC, which is one of the most widely recognized and respected certifications in the nation,” said Ellen Kahn, managing partner of the firm. “Our business model attracts attorneys who like to be out in front of the issues and in the trenches with the client. Given this profile, it is particularly gratifying to be the largest women-owned firm in the western U.S., and this certification marks another step in our long and continuing efforts to recognize and promote diversity within the legal industry.”

WBENC’s national standard of certification is a meticulous process that includes an in-depth review of the business and site inspection. The process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51 percent owned, operated and controlled by women.
